Most of my story will be about the all the great adventures and wonderful people I meet along the way, but this is a story I need to tell about a much more trying adventure perhaps a tidal wave.

So its Friday July 19,2024 and we are ready for to leave for vacation to celebrate our 24th anniversary. A Viking Ocean Cruise from Athens Greece to Venice Italy. I usually check the news every morning but decided to bypass it this morning,
We arrived at MBS airport Friday oblivious of the catastrophe taking place. we were about a hour early which is plenty of time if you have been to MBS. It is a small airport and if it has two planes to deal with at the same time it is considered busy. Right from the get go our plane was an hour late it didn’t seem that serious since we had an long layover. We got to the counter and after some checking it was determined that we would miss our connection from Detroit to Paris. The ticket agent at the counter did a great job rerouting us. Though it took some doing since there were several flights late or being canceled out of Detroit. We where becoming aware this was serious. Our ticket agent was calm and professional and after some serious searching, rerouted us. Our original flight went from Detroit to Paris to Athens. Our new flight would take us to Detroit, to New York, to Rome and then to Athens where our vacation was to began. We would arrive a day late but we had planed to spend 2 days exploring Athens before the cruise. A setback but not major. She also gave us vouchers for a motel in New York as well as for Uber to get back and fourth to the airport. She was just great to work with. On to Detroit. We contacted the Hotel in Athens to cancel one of the days and see if could get refunded for it. (More will be reveled)
Upon arriving in Detroit at around 10:00 am. We began to get a grasp just how serious this was flights being canceled long lines at the help desk. We had several hours to wait for our flight wasn’t supposed till 6:00 PM. We caught breakfast and got ready to hunger down for the wait. Time to leave came and we
